Thrift Store

Our Thrift Store started as a casual comment among volunteer friends during a garage sale fundraiser in the fall of 1997. While viewing the plethora of left-over clothing, furniture, books, dishes and glassware, collectibles, one volunteer commented, “With all this stuff, we ought to start a store.” Soon thereafter our Thrift Store started.

In its first official month of operation in January 1998, the Resale Shop sold an impressive $1,300 in donated goods, and was averaging $5,000 per month by the end of its first year of operation. Now, the Shop generates $35,000 per month, which provides half of the agency’s total
cash operating revenue. Every dollar the store brings in is reinvested in the mission.
